Thought of the moment....

No matter how hard you try, you will NEVER control anyone else's attitudes, actions, or outcomes. The only person that you have the ability to directly impact is you, and it is your responsibility to learn how to do just that...to utilize the knowledge, skills, and abilities you have been given to impact the world in the most positive way that you can EVERY chance you get!

Creepy Little Muse & Recognition!

The Creepy Little Muse keeps dancing by me in my dreams every night making it impossible to sleep sometimes. I swear she haunts me sometimes. I call her chaos, because that is what she makes my mind.

Last night as I was trying to sleep, she crept by my bed brushing the covers just enough to wake me up so that I could see her dash me and head out toward the other room. Damn, sometimes she freaks me out and sometimes she just pisses me off. I don’t sleep much the way it is, but she doesn’t make things any easier.

Yes, I sound absolutely crazy and sometimes feel that way…but if it weren’t for Chaos whispering things in my ears at night then I wouldn’t have so many insane stories that I am trying to write. That is both a positive and a negative because she thinks that I’m a super genius that can type 1000 words per minute and get things on paper fast.

She doesn’t understand that family comes first and I always have to jot things down and come back to them and work when I can. My family has been keeping my very busy again so writing is something that I try to do if I get some spare time. I have been freehand writing a lot and translating it into the computer for the past few days.

I honestly can say that I do feel like I am getting things done. But with a few family setbacks, it is hard to keep up. I am working on getting internet back at the house. Yay! Won’t that be fun? I will be able to keep up with blogs better and keep doing my research for my books that I am working on.

For now the family is all doing fine. My mother is in surgery this morning getting her fistula replaced. She had one last year but it has to be replaced. She is going to have to start going back to dialysis. For those of you who aren’t familiar with my family…well, they like to keep me on my toes. If it isn’t one thing it is another. So thank you to all of my friends who have sent me well wishes and a speedy recovery for mamma.

I want to tell everyone that I am very proud of their accomplishments that I have been reading about on the blogs. Some have works out for partials and full requests. Some have completed their manuscripts and some are editing like the wind. I am PROUD of all of you. You all work really hard and do a really great job.

On a sad note, I won a contest before Christmas…a copy of MATCHED! Well needless to say, I have never received it. *tears streaming* I was really looking forward to reading the book. So mister post office man—Please give me back my book or get it to me for criminy sakes. The only contest I have ever won and the postal service can’t even get me my book. (DEVESTATED)

I look forward to reading up more on your adventures and progress as we all grow as writers – novice, published…doesn’t matter. You are the reason I read books. I commend you. Best Wishes!

Vampyre Kisses Review

Vampyre Kisses by Elizabeth J. Kolodziej

Goodreads blurb:

Vampyre Kisses is an enthralling story about a young woman named Faith, who seems content with her life, but deep down craves more excitement. Then a mysterious man named Trent enters her world and everything changes. Surprising to Faith, Trent is a green-eyed vampire from Ireland. She is even more amazed to find out that she is a witch, and the last of her kind.

Faith learns that she is destined to restore her witch line and becomes more powerful as she gains confidence and knowledge, but danger lurks everywhere -- especially when unknown assailants steal the most important gems from the vampire master and werewolf royalty.

Now surrounded by a world filled with mystifying vampires and werewolves, can Faith gain enough power to help her friends and rescue the stolen gems?

My Take:

When I first started reading Vampyre Kisses I wasn’t sure where it was going to go. I’ve read many vampire novels and they’ve lead me down the same road of mortal girl falls for immortal vampire and they live happily ever after. La, la, la.

I would like to say that Vampyre Kisses has enlightened me by showing me that there are other ways of intertwining immortals and supernatural love and also finding ways of complicating things.

Our main character Faith is best friends with her ex-boyfriend, Max. Untraditional, but this relationship works really well throughout this book. Faith meets many challenges in her life from work, love and family. Faith also transitions and develops a new sense of self.

Faith encounters Trent, a tantalizing Irish vampire and forges a bond in more way than one. For those who crave the love triangle there is still hope when Faith meets Zou Tai, prince of werewolves. These three, along with Max are brought together on a quest to restore the stolen blood gems to rightful houses. Elizabeth didn’t hold out, she put in the whole kit and caboodle, so go check out her book “Vampyre Kisses”.  I look forward to the next installment.

My Skin Does to Crawl!

You’ve heard that expression “You make my skin crawl!” right? Well, have you literally felt it crawl…? I mean do you believe that your skin moves? I do! Seriously.

I know that this is another one of my random conversations. I was on another road trip and when I am on those I do the most of my thinking. That is why I have been absent for the most part. I will try to make up for that. Anyway, anytime I am behind the wheel driving my brain just starts driving in a different way.

I start having all sorts of random flashes of past events, future ideas. Songs on the radio imbed things into my head for ideas as well and I start playing a movie in my mind wishing that I could narrate as I drive. I know, I need one of those voice recording thingys. I bet I could use my iPhone or something, but it will still be challenging to turn it on and drive for me. Lol

Okay, back to the story at hand. Crawling skin. Do you ever wonder how the clasp of your necklace starts on the back of your neck and works its way around to the front?

As I was having a thousand ideas, my necklace tingled around my neck as it slowly tumbled down the back of my neck. I suddenly thought to myself that my skin was crawling. I mean I know our muscles probably tense and untense millions of times and our pulse and breathing and every movement plays into that, but I like the thought that my skin was crawling and that it rippled causing the chain of my necklace to roll down the nape of my neck.

Doesn’t that sound more intense? Knowing that it had a choice to move the chain. Maybe the chain was an irritation and it wanted to move it down some. So the next time your clasp moves around to the front or your glasses slide down your nose, your pants need to be pulled up, get wedgies, your bra is riding up? Your skin might be crawling. Just a thought. *wink*

Now I’m all itchy and my damn bra strap is slippin so I gotta fix it. What are your thoughts?

Truth or Dare?

Not really. It is more like a confession of something from a long time ago that came to mind during a road trip this past week.

I used to work for an insurance agency that sold insurance. Auto, Home and Life Insurance Policies…stuff like that. I was in my twenties then, so it was sort of my first real job.

Anyway, the boss’s son worked there with me. (Family run business. Dad: Owner, Head agent. Mom: Office Manager. Son: Agent.) He was probably three or four years older than I was and he was an agent. I answered the phones and had to solicit people to see if they would like to get a quote for our insurance.

Good afternoon, this is Regina from *&$%(@!~ Insurance Company and I was calling to see if you would like to schedule a date and time for one of my agents to call and speak with you about quotes for your auto, home and life insurance?   cricket, cricket, cricket….

Yes, I hated that part of my job and I remember marking off three people at a time when I called one because I hated when people would call me so I know how it felt. Shallow! Okay, so to the point of my tale here. One day we were at the office alone which did happen often.

Most days that we were there alone we would just listen to the radio and I would answer the phones while he played the video game “DOOM” on his laptop. Yes, I am serious! It was actually funny. So one really rainy day…pouring rain, lightening. We knew that there wouldn’t be walk-ins. So he asked if I wanted to watch a movie.

The office had a big area in the lobby with chairs and a couch set up with a television and VCR so the good students could watch their videos and get a discount for their parents insurance…some of you know what I am talking about and for some of you this could be before your time. Lol

So anyway, we watched “The Frighteners” with Michael J. Fox. It was a different kind of movie. A paranormal which is just up my alley and I love the cemetery scenes with the drill sergeant. I am sure everyone thought this might go another direction, but no dice. He was really not my cup of tea. Come on the man was like 28, played “DOOM” on his laptop at work and smoked a pipe like he was Sherlock Holmes. There was nothing fetching for me in that scenario.

If you haven’t watched “The Frighteners” go out and rented it for the weekend for just something funny to do. It was a fun movie. Tell me, do you have any random flashbacks come to mind that you want to tell me about or confess on your blog? If you do, leave me your link or tell me about it. I’ll make sure people find you and your dirty little secrets from your past. lol
