Vampyre Kisses anyone?

Anyone interested please go to her blog http://www.vampyrekisses.com
Here is from her blog:
I hope everyone is having a good week and ready for the holidays. So I have a new plan for Vampyre Kisses that I want to try out. I may not start doing this fully until next year when I get back from vacation but I want to see if there is any interest.

What I am thinking of doing is getting 100 bloggers to read my book Vampyre Kisses and do a review. The review should be listed on their website, goodreads, shelfari, amazon, and smashwords. I know its several different sites but all you got to do is copy and paste. :D

Now, I know bloggers that do book reviews are normally very busy. So I am trying to think of something I can offer you (beside the free eBook of Vampyre Kisses). Oh BTW even if you don’t have an eReader you can still read the book in PDF form on your computer. So no worries there! But BESIDES that, I am thinking that the reviewers could choose a couple different things. You could do a guest post on my blog to get more followers at your own website. I could list your link on my blog roll or if you have a banner I can create a page and have your banner there as a wbesite I “support”. I could send you a free sticker and/or bookmark. OR! I could send you some free short stories I wrote. :)

If you can think of something that would be a better trade let me know. Or if you think I don’t need to bother trading thats kewl too. I am not trying to bribe anyone to give me a good review. Just want to make it worth your wild.

But if you are interested in doing this PLEASE let me know! I need more reviews.

Happy Reading!

<3′s and Fangs,
Liz ^_^

Where have you been?

Santa Claus with a little girlImage via Wikipedia
I hope that some of you have missed me a little and wondered where I have been. Well, I have been busy with Christmas and my Help for the Holidays Program that I do for my community. I work in child welfare...for those who didn't know. So I help sponsor our kids in placement (foster, relative or residential) and also let some of our not so fortunate families within the community sign up.

I find sponsors for these families and children so that they can get a wonderful Christmas. It is very time consuming trying to coordinate families and sponsors. Sometimes the sponsors want to remain anonymous so I have to have them drop gifts off to me and then I have to get them to the right families.

This year I also had an auction house involved and they held a couple of auctions and were able to get us some really awesome donations that we were able to get out to our families and children. They also got us extra wrapping paper so that we could let the parents wrap the presents.

It is crazy hecktic and a lot of fun. But it keeps me tied up most of the time for the month. I have also been trying to edit and have had some other personal issues at home that have kept me away. But with that being said... I don't know when I will get the opportunity to post again so Please everyone have a safe and wonderful Holiday.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas...I hope you all get those goodies that were on your list from Santa. Big hugs to everyone. Be safe this holiday season.

Crutch pt 8

I know this is long over due and I apologize. There have been a chain of events in my life that have me really busy and have me neglecting the internet. I am really sorry for letting anyone down or leaving you hanging. So without further ado here is a new snippet post.

When her eyes opened she knew that one was partially swollen, restricting her vision.

“How stupid do you think I am Tess? Do you think I’m just going to let you walk out of here with all my money?”

He walked back over to her and straddled her limp body. Her mind was still searching for a way out of this mess. Aaron crouched down on her chest pinning her arms under the weight of his knees.

“You know, I was thinking Tess. You know what I was thinking about?” He raised his brows. Tess could feel the glass digging into her back and arms with his weight. She looked around; panic striking her when she noticed the door bolted closed.

“I was thinkin that I would give you something other than my money to remember me by.” Another sinister smile wrapped his lips. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his knife. Tess shuttered beneath him. He watched her as he slowly opened it exposing its gleaming blade.

“Aaron please.” Tess pleaded. He brought the knife closer to her face and she started to scream and flail, trying to buck him off of her. Aaron used his free hand to grab and steady her face as she tried to shake it free.

“No, please, Aaron, no.” Sobbing, Tess tried to wriggle her face out of his grip.

“Shhh. It’ll only hurt for a second.” The cold steel of the knife met the warm flesh of her cheek. He started by the corner of her eye and slid the blade the entire length to her chin. Tess cried out.

Aaron was so hypnotized by his work that he sliced into the flesh of his thumb holding her jaw before he stopped. Then he leaned back and admired his craftsmanship. The blood was running down her face and starting to drip on the floor.

     “Who’s gonna want you now?”

Thanks for your continued support!

Crutch pt 7

Admit it. You knew that you were waiting for me to post this all day long weren't you? I bet you were. Okay, I'm just kidding. Anyone who is following along, THANK YOU! and anyone who is new--there is a Page at the top of my blog called Crutch. You can go there and read from start to finish.

“Son of a bitch!” Tess screamed. Her one chance came and gone in a flash. She gripped the steering wheel, stifling the tears that were welling up in her eyes. Knowing what she had to do, she swallowed hard and raising her chin high in the air. Tess unlocked the door and got out of the car.

When she walked back up to the door, she could see him sitting on the countertop. She didn’t close the door behind her.

“Missing something?” Aaron’s smug demeanor was nauseating. Tess just stared straight ahead not giving him eye contact. “You know, that wasn’t a very nice thing to do. Shit like that hurts.”

Aaron sprang off the counter; Tess lurched back for the door. They both froze, trying to anticipate each other’s next action. The broken dinnerware crackled under his boots as his weight shifted giving Tess some leverage.

The grating noise from the shards under his feet caused a chill to climb the full length of her spine. She twitched. Aaron knew that he was intimidating her and savored every second as he cocked he head and took her in. This is exactly how he liked her; she was at her most stunning. Quivering with fear, not vile with tears and blubbering.

“You did come back for these didn’t you?” He dangled the keys out in front of her.

“Yes.” Slipped across her lips almost a whisper.

“Here, take them.” He held them out at arm’s length to her. Tess reluctantly reached her hand out to grab the keys from Aaron. With keys almost in hand, Aaron released them before Tess touched them, sending them to the ground.

Tess took her eyes off of Aaron and her eyes followed the keys for a fraction of a second before the left hook he threw connected sending her careening backward and into the door jam knocking her unconscious.

So if you are still interested keep following along and there should be another snippet available next week. It's like a mini soap opera right? I do appreciate those who are following and commenting. It helps my writing if I know what your thinking dear readers...

Misshapen grief, giveaways, and web splashes!

Yeah it looks like a mouthful doesn’t it. Well I wanted to let everyone know what has been going on with me lately. I have mostly posted excerpts of some of my work and giveaways or plugs for other giveaways. So it is time to dish, dish, dish about me.

It has been a really tough couple months for my family. We adopted a stray dog (boxer) See pic above… I named her Tess. Yep, she gave me the idea for the name of my WIP CRUTCH. Well this poor baby girl was used and abused by previous owners.

The bread the shamoley out of her, then dumped her, starved her…etc. I have always wanted a boxer and Murphy (Brad (hubby)) said YES! SQUEE! I was so happy. She took to all of us. When I say all of us, to those who are new to my bloggy blog, there are seven of us. For those of you who think you misread that it is 7.

Anyway, we have had a lot of trials and tribulations trying to get Tess settled. Took her to the vet, she had heartworms, they dewormed her (so they said) and I set her up to get spay. Cause her poor little woman parts were just a mess. We got her spayed and then she had diarrhea. Another trip to the vet. Some pills later she seemed to do better. Then a week later she was still losing weight and looking bad, not eating, urinating herself… so we chose a different vet.

Let’s just say that one vet missed some things that another vet found. Our poor baby was suffering because she was very, very sick. I did the only humane thing I felt I could do for her. I let her go and now she is watching over us with God.

So I have been mourning for our little girl. But she has a special spot right under my big ol tree (prior post) where she can over look the property.

Then we had Thanksgiving…I cooked for the family and we ate way-to-much. I hope everyone enjoyed time with their family and friends over the holiday.

Also, this is the final week for the ARCHVILLIAN giveaway. Previous post…this book is signed by Barry Lyga himself. Wonderful man. So click the Archvillian cover on the right… yup, see it over there. Now click it and comment. I could pick you!

Crutch pt 6

Yes my wonderful friends. It is time for another installment of Crutch. Who is ready for more? I have seen that people have stopped by and some people have left comments and I appreciate it. I love getting input, your points of view and just help in general. So for those of you who help me, I really, really, really appreciate you!!

Okay, now to the saga of Tess and Aaron.

Aaron grabbed Tess by the hair and helped her to her feet, not minding her wincing in pain. He jerked her upright to face him as she struggled with her hands to get his free from her entangled mess of hair.

“Not so fast, where are you off to Contessa?” She could hear the laughter in his voice. He was amused by her struggle to get free. She quickly stopped and stood motionless. Anticipating what he would do next. “Was that better love?”

She starts to sob. Don’t let him do this. Stand your ground. You can do this. The inhalation of air was forceful enough to help stifle the cry. She bit hard into her lip and laughed again…at him. “Is that the best you can do?”

Aaron didn’t like being made a fool of and this really pissed him off. Why wasn’t she crying? “What the hell are you laughing about? You think this is funny?”  He shook her violently, attempting to shake the laughter from her lungs.

Tess continued to test his patience with her defiance. Aaron brought her face up close to his so that he could look her in the eye. Look for the fear that he so desperately needed to feed from. Her eyes met his and she held his gaze and he caught the small flicker he preyed upon.

His had come sudden and hard as a stone across her right cheek before she had time to counter. She cried out in pain, reflexively covering her face with her hands waiting for another blow.

“You should know better than to provoke me bitch.” His voice blared.

Tess knew that this was her chance and she needed to take it. With her hands still covering her face and his hands still holding her arms, she quickly brought her knee up to his groin as forcefully as she could manage.

Aaron doubled over in pain, hands mechanically reaching for his scrotum that were suffering from the blunt trauma. Once he released her she ran as fast as she could through the house and out to the car. She climbed inside and locked the doors and reached for the ignition. Her keys were gone.

For those who are just stumbling along this and are new to this series, I have added a page at the top for you to go to in order to start from the beginning. Thank you for your support!!

Archvillian Giveaway!

Archvillain #1
Goodread Blurb:

Kyle Camden knows exactly where he was the night Mighty Mike arrived: Sneaking around the fallow field behind Bouring Middle School (motto: "The U Makes It Exciting!"), running the electrical cabling that would allow him to dump the contents of the old water tower on the visiting football team during the next day's game.
Which is why he couldn't tell anyone where he was.
Or what he saw.
Those lights everyone saw in the sky weren't tiny meteors burning up in the
atmosphere. They were some kind of strange, supercooled plasma that bathed the entire field - including Kyle - in alien energies, energies that boosted Kyle's intellect and gave him superpowers.
Unfortunately, the energies also brought Mighty Mike to earth.
Kyle is the only one who knows that Mighty Mike is an alien. Everyone else thinks that Mike is just some kid who stumbled into the field, got beefed up on meteor juice, lost his memory, and decided to start rescuing kittens from trees. But Kyle knows the truth. And he'll do anything in his power to stop Mighty Mike, even if it means being an Archvillain!

Crutch pt 5

Aaron paused for a short second  before his face release a little like he was transforming back to Jekyll. The force of his hands pinching her upper arms started to ease up a little and he looked at his hands.

Tess’ heart thumped harder in her chest thinking that maybe he would release her and they would have a normal fight and it would be distinguished easier than she imagined. Her eyes were trained on his face watching every expression intensely.

He looked at his hands on her arms and then looked at her face. She stopped breathing for a moment but her body was trembling beneath his touch. He searched her face for answers and saw a small glint of fear in her eyes. That was all it took.

Aaron’s grip tightened once again and before Tess could think about it he whirled her around the room, throwing her toward the closet. She slid across the floor, hitting her back and her head in the center of the door.

The full length mirror shattered as she slumped to the ground and rained down on Tess cutting her cheek as it fell. The blood seeped down toward her mouth as she gasped for air to replace what was knocked from her upon impact.

Her mind was telling her to get up but her body was riveting in pain and she could hear him walking toward her. The shards of the mirror crunching under his boots as he slowly approached her and then stopped. The toe of his boot directly in front of her face.

Tess reluctantly waited for it to strike her in the face, but nothing happened. Another ragged breath entered her aching lungs and she coughed as she tried to regain a full breath. Aaron knelt down in front of her with his elbows on his knees, rocking back on his heels.

He swiped some of the blood from her cut and smeared it across her face. “What a fucking waste. You used to be pretty you know. Now what am I going to do with you?”

Big 'Ol Tree

This is absolutely my favorite tree on the property. We live on 14 acres and I have trees everywhere, but this one is my favorite. I have yet to put a big swing in it. I think that it would be a fabulous tree to hold a swing.

I would be on it more than the kids, but who would mind. Next fall it will make a most relaxing spot to sit down to write or finish some of my works. I get a lot of inspiration from the outdoors.
I don’t get to go camping much…and when we do, it is in the back yard or in the woods down by our creek. Wow, yeah, I know I am really living the exciting life. lol No really it is great. I am alright as long as the kids are having fun.
We also have a hayfield that my husband wants to turn into a go kart track. I am not so sure that I agree with that, but I am not sure that he will really go through with it…but I never know. Really.
I have come home before and found things not as I had left them. Since his accident and he doesn’t get to drive or work anymore, he has a hard time trying to keep himself busy and gets bored easily. So he remodels the house and sometimes demolishes things.
I have come home to no kitchen before, no bathroom and just most recently…no shingles on the roof. Guess what? Yup, we got a new roof ! LOL. My life is always interesting and sometimes stressful, but I don’t regret any of it.
So with some of the things that he does for him to keep busy, good things come out of it for me too. So eventually I will work on the swing…the place where I will go to dissolve any stress or anxiety that may be creeping up on me.
So where do you go to unwind? Or what do you do? Give me pointers.

Crutch pt 4

Another attempt at bravery and defiance was when she turned to walk away from him and toward the dresser to start collecting some of her own items. She had taken five steps and opened a drawer and then he was on her. Aaron had her by the arm and swung her around to face him and then slammed her against the wall.

Her first thought was how bad her head hurt after it ricocheted off the plaster and lathe wall and how she couldn’t believe she was letting this happen. Fear started to take over and she felt it over-coming her body, she started to tremble.

His eyes were glossed over and she knew he was Hyde tonight. Once he felt her shaking under his grasp the look of satisfaction took over. A sinister smile christened his lips and then reached his eyes.

Tess was overwhelmed with confusion of how she was going to get out of the house. She just kept his eye contact and then began to laugh. His eyes narrowed and his look of amusement became a scowl. He couldn’t believe she was laughing about this.

“Is that all you got?” She mumbles though her laughter.

“Do you want me to do worse?” He grip tightens on her arms with every word.

The only thing Tess could think to do was mock him and raised her eyebrows with an oh yeah, what do you got? She knew this was not in her best interest but did it anyway. She dared herself as much as him.

Calling him out to unleash more anger on her was a plan to see if she could get him to release her. If he loosened his grip, she could possibly run. Get back to the car and get the hell out of there.

Oh Snap, What'd I Do Now?

San Diego City College Learing Recource City r...Image via Wikipedia
Well the other day I don’t know if I put the nail in my casket by putting myself another iron in the fire but here is what I did.

About a month ago I emailed my librarian and asked him all kinds of questions about what I can do to bring people into the library. I asked if I could do book reviews for the libraries website and post those in special holders within the library so that patrons can read them and potentially find a new book to add to their to be read list.

I also asked about working with him on their inventory because I have noticed that there are books missing in series. Some series are missing books 2, 4, and 8 but have all the others…all the way to 12. Yes, there are some series that go that far and further like the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. Most of these books were donated…explaining the missing books.

I inquired about purchasing other books for the library because the budget is so small and they will not be able to get all of the books that are on my TBR list let alone everyone else’s.  So I asked to maybe consolidate lists so I can pick up the books that he is not going to order.

I also asked if I could start a writing group one night a week or twice a month or whatever in the part of the library that is called the learning center. It is a beautiful place that doesn’t get used quite as much as it should IMO. I would even do an email newsletter featuring new books coming in and other things if asked.

Here I am almost a month later and no response…cricket. cricket. cricket.  Nothing!

So needless to say that I know the President of the Library Board and I asked her the other day what it takes to be part of the library to get involved and do something. I told her what I suggested to the librarian and she thought those were all wonderful ideas. Her eyes were lit up with…joy? *cue cute angels and pixie dust falling from the ceiling*

She told me that she was ready to retire and that her term was up quite awhile ago and she had looked for a replacement but could never find anyone interested. What?? No one interested. That’s crazy. So anyway…long story short—I think that I put a bid in to be President of the Library Board at the next election…that is if the approve and elect me. *slaps head--what'd I do now?*

I know it is not a paid position, but if it means that I get to be involved and interact and get the answers I want since the librarian didn’t respond to me…then fabulous. I just hope that I didn’t put myself in a noose and hope that I don’t fail the library. I LOVE BOOKS!!

So for all you new writers, existing writers and up and coming dreamers. Don’t give up and keep writing because I am going to do all that I can to make sure that my small community gets the opportunity to enjoy your talents.

Crutch pt 3

This is the third installment of Crutch for those who are following. There may be strong language and violence involved so I do not mean to offend anyone. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate your feedback.

She slowly pushed the door open and waited. Nothing. She let out a small sigh of relief and went in through the kitchen surveying the damage. Broken plates and glasses littered the floor by the sink.
Once out of the kitchen it only took her a few minutes to breeze into the bedroom and grab the suitcases from the closet and toss them onto the bed. She quickly ran upstairs to each child’s room and tried to grab enough clothes for several days.
Her foot slipped out from under her when she was coming back down the steps and she landed hard into the wall of the stairwell catching herself with her elbow. “Damn it.” She grumbled to herself. Knowing that time was precious she tried to pick up speed and get back to the bedroom to pack her own things.
She’d almost made it to the bed with her arms heaped full of the children’s clothes when she saw him sitting there. Alarm racked her body telling her to run but that would only tip him off making it more fun for him.
“I told you not to be home when I got here.” Tess said trying to control her breathing and her shaking body.
“I wasn’t. I just got here, so technically I wasn’t home when you got here.” His smile was devious. She knew it all too well. This was not going to end the way she had hoped after all. This was going to go all wrong.

“You know what I meant.” She countered. Don’t you dare back down from him. He will never stop. Never!

He didn’t take his eyes off of her. “Where do you think your going? And where are my kids?”
“I don’t have to explain any of this to you Aaron. I told you that this was over.” She walked over and threw the clothes into the suitcase trying her best to ignore the fact that she just put herself three steps closer to him and ten steps father from the door.

dun dun dun...see what happens next week.

Crutch pt 2

I started writing something new and posted a snippet of it on Wednesday, but usually post on Fridays anyway...so for the weekend I am going to post another mini-installment of Crutch. Each post is around 300 words. I apologize in advance for any violence or language that may be offensive to my readers...but this is me.

When Tess pulled the car in the drive the house looked vacant. All but the dim light shining in the living room window shadowed behind the drawn curtains. That is the way he like them – closed.  So the neighbors nor anyone driving by could see what went on behind them.

Aaron didn’t always used to be like this. A car accident five years ago took the real Aaron away. The one who used to buy her cards for every occasion and none in particular. He was injured with sever head injuries that he was never capable to overcome.

Somehow a switch inside his brain flipped and now he bounces between his own alternate worlds. One where he is controlled and behaves properly when he takes his medications properly and is not over-stimulated by the children or life in general.

The other he become a monster who loves to belittle the entire family until he makes everyone cower down to him – especially Tess. He’s his own Jekyll and Hyde. When he is Jekyll he is fine to be around, but when he is Hyde…you do just that.

It took Tess several minutes before she had enough confidence to shut the engine off and step out of the car. She left the keys in the ignition just in case she would need to make a quick departure.

She slowly walked up the path toward the door and reached for the handle and froze looking through the window for any kind of movement. She wasn’t sure that she was brave enough for a confrontation but would interact if she had to.

Her heart was racing, the pounding was so loud in her ears it made it impossible to hear anything else. A lump formed in her throat, she couldn’t swallow. She gripped the handle firmly and started to twist it until the latch clicked.

Write It Out Wednesday -- Crutch pt 1

Ok I am trying something new today and am disclosing a little snippet of work that I don't normally do. I apologize if anyone is offended by content or language. I also do not guarantee that I will post something every Wednesday, but will try. Enjoy!

“Where’s the money, Tess?” His breath was heavy in the phone.

She knew that the answer didn’t matter. She knew the minute she moved the money out of his reach that she signed her own death warrant but she no longer cared. She was tired. Tired of him being able to control her. Holding money over her head as her only means of survival, crippling her without it. Making her need him around to help support her.

“It’s safe.” Her voice quavered a little. Letting out a small sigh and bringing her chin up she tried to sound stern. “You’re obsessed with the money, Aaron. It’s always about the money. I am not going to let you control me with it anymore.”

“I’m not obsessed, that’s ridiculous. It’s not your money. It’s my money.” He started when she cut into him.

“Our money! Everything is about you. How hard you work, what you’ve been through, your needs. You don’t give a damn about me or the kids…it’s always about you.” She was becoming heated and wanted to show him that she was no longer scared of him or this threats.

“You shut up; just shut your fuckin mouth right now. You don’t talk to me like that. That only gets you in trouble and you know it.” Aaron’s voice boomed through the phone.

Tess shuttered at the thought but tried to hold her ground. “This is over. You need to pack your shit and leave. Be gone before I get home with the kids.”

She knew he wouldn’t be gone, but she also knew she had no plans on taking the kids back to the house with her either. She was going to stash them with her mom until she could get something a little more secure. This was going to be a long terrifying night.

Celebrate and join us.

Blogfest to celebrate the wonderful community website at Writer’s Digest for writers: YA/Crossover to mingle, converse, get advice and just hang out. Thanks to Nathalie Bleach who is a very active member in the writing community, there is a place for us to gather. We are commemorating reaching 100 members by having this little blogfest.

I was new to Writer’s Digest in March this year and I was embraced with open arms into the community as I wondered around to different groups to find the support and other members that I could relate to. I stumbled across Nathalie’s YA/Crossover group and love the support and commentary that everyone gives to one another in there. I am not always active on the boards, but that doesn’t mean that I am not silently stalking somewhere. LOL.

Several of us support each other in blogging, facebook, twitter and are critique partners and beta readers for each other. I like to think that we are a family here in the YA/Crossover community because the writers are reaching out into a genre that aren’t yet fully embraced by agents.

I love how supportive we are of each other and motivate one another to keep going or to strive to better. I know that is how everyone there makes me feel and if you have any questions everyone is so easy to talk to and very approachable. So I beg you, if you are writing YA or even contemplating dabbling in it, you really need to look at dropping by the YA/Crossover group in Writer’s Digest and say Hi. I guarantee that you will stay.

Here are some of our members that have blogs that you can stop by and visit and my find yourself following in the future. I know that I do. I have also posted their twitter handle for you to follow if you are a twitterverse fanatic. You can alos check out the YA/Crossover badge to the right. Thank you for all that you do for the writing community and the support that everyone has shown me along the way. You all have made me a better writer for it.

The Versatile Blogger Award

I am humbled and very happy to receive this award from one of the most talented bloggers I know. PK Hrezo!! Whoot! Whoot!

ver·sa·tile - capable of or adapted for turning easily from one to another of various tasks, fields of endeavor, etc.: a versatile writer.

variable or changeable, as in feeling, purpose, or policy: versatile moods.

And I thought it was because I’m borderline ADD that I switched subjects so often and can never stay on task. I am in no way making fun of anyone so please do not take offense. I am serious that I am this way! I embrace it, because it makes me who I am today…whoever that is :D

Anyway…back to this wonderful award. Once you receive this award you are to tell five things about yourself and pass it onto five fellow bloggers.

1.     I pretty much gave away the fact that those of you that know me already know that I am borderline ADD. I have way too many irons in the fire and I thrive on chaos. My mind does not shut off. It literally does not stop clicking along. It could be the most random things or it could be story ideas and I have no where near the amount of hours in the day to take care of every thing that floats around in there.

2.     I don’t have any brothers. I wanted one, but never got one. So if anyone wants to be my adoptive brother, please email me and let me know. I have three sisters and I really need a brother. It is not too late, reallyJ

3.     I can’t live without music. If you shut off the music or noise for that fact then all the noises in my head will take over. Music helps me focus on one thing at a time. I need noise of some sort to focus. I hope that is not too crazy.

4.     I write more than one genre. I have about 16 projects going on right now (the muse just doesn’t stop) ranging from Paranormal romance, mystery, dystopian, YA, Adult, Mainstream and I don’t know how to classify some.

5.     I love to beta read. I don’t always know my own plot, voice, tenses, and so on so forth, but love to read for others and just give them my thoughts about what they have written and keep them motivated to keep going.

So now here is who I am passing this award along to because I have been following these people and they have wonderful blogs that I love to read and if you haven’t checked them out you need to go do that now.

Squee, squee, and super squee.

Ok, short post here. I have just got my hands on an signed uncorrected proof of ARCHVILLAIN by Barry Lyga. He tweeted about giving away books on your blog and I sent him an email and my book to give away came today...

I am super, uber excited. I just need to figure out what kind of contest that I am going to have to give it away. It has to be something fabulous. So I am going to stew on it for a little bit and just be thrilled that I am holding a piece of greatness for right now. Take care of you.

What is your favorite holiday?

Zombies as portrayed in the movie Night of the...Image via Wikipedia

Since I just wrote about my favorite month being OCTOBER, I have to tell you about my favorite holiday…*drum roll* Yeah, I know I already told you in the last post it was Halloween, but I was just checking to see who was really paying attention.

Yes, I love Halloween. I love to decorate with all the stringy cobwebs, ghoulish décor and scary music. I have more Halloween decorations than Christmas decorations…go figure. I love every aspect of it. I don’t scare easily and love the horror films, terrifying books, ghost rallies and tractor rides.

My daughter’s birthday is in late October and every year since she was little we always had a huge Halloween themed party to celebrate…bobbing for apples, flashlight tag with the occasional scary man in the woods (hubby) coming after you and the occasional friendly cop coming out and flashing his lights upon the horrifying set up. Lol

Ok, ok, it was never the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, but boy would I love for it to be. Now the kids are older, 17, 15, 15, 13 and 6. Now the 6 year old won’t be able to participate in most of the gore if I turn the barn into a bloody nightmare, but the older ones can. (Yes, in case some of you don’t know me…I have a dark side. She can be very dark and evil. But for all intents and purposes I try to keep her locked away for everyone’s safety.)

I’ve never had adult Halloween parties because I just haven’t had time; I focus all of it on the kids. I have thought about it several times and have talked about it to the hubs. But Halloween if for the kids…for now.

So tell me what is your favorite holiday...Christmas, Easter, St. Patty's Day or Valentines?
